So today after taking a nap and doing nothing, I decided to get a little yard work in. I always hatred yard work when I lived in Florida. I know, something I hated about Florida: How hot it was. Most summer days i was too disgusting outside to even get the mail. When you got back from the mail box it looked like you had just enjoyed a really hot shower. So now I enjoy working in the yard. But, it was only 43 degrees outside today. At least it was sunny. I took some before pictures of the yard so we can enjoy the transformation and fruits of my labors. Too bad they are after pics for the trees
.
I bundled up and headed out. Not much was really done. We had some trees, that just didn't make it, that needed to come out. I'm going to transplant some rose bushes into the new holes later this week if the snow holds off. I hope some one got to watch me complete that. I fought with three trees at once! The evergreen I was digging up had a massive root system so I just kept going round and round the tree, digging deeper and deeper. Then something pulled my hair! I had my head phones on and couldn't hear anything except my music, so I imagined some creature had snuck up on me and was having a good laugh before it ate me. I whipped around with my arms flailing to to find the crepe myrtle was tangled in my hair! Once my heart rate went back to non life threatening and I was untangled I started looking around to make sure no one had seen! That should have been the least of my worries because as I looked around I lost my footing around the soft ground of the dead tree and fell into the barberry bush next to it. Thank goodness I was bundled got the cold! The thorns were stuck on my gloves but none in my hands. I was really feeling quite done at this point but still had two bushes. I got the bush I was working on lose and yanked and tugged and grunted till it came out and I could drag it to the pile of fire hazard. When the trees were complete I cleaned up behind the garage and called it a day. Ugh.
Until next time...The Magniloquent Mary
